As the year winds down and the days grow shorter, we arrive at the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. This astronomical event, occurring on December 21st, 2023, marks the official beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Yet, beyond the change in season, the winter solstice holds a deeper significance. It's a time of introspection, reflection, and a gentle nudge towards self-care.

Our Winter Solstice 2023 Ceremony at Eternity Wellness

The darkness of the winter solstice can be seen as a metaphor for our own internal shadows, those parts of ourselves we may choose to ignore or push away. However, darkness is not inherently negative. It's a fertile ground for healing and transformation. Just as seeds lie dormant in the earth during winter, waiting for the warmth of spring, so too do our inner potential and resilience lie hidden within us, waiting to be nurtured and brought to light.

We collectively lit the altar that Kayla created, one by one... we brought it to light!

Instead of resisting the darkness, this time asks us to turn inward, to embrace the stillness and quietude. It's a time to let go of the busyness of the year and create space for rest, rejuvenation, and introspection. This can be through various practices like meditation, journaling, spending time in nature, or simply allowing ourselves to be present with our thoughts and emotions without judgment.

By embracing the darkness of the winter solstice, we open ourselves to the possibility of healing and transformation. We can use this time to reflect on the past year, release what no longer serves us, and set intentions for the year ahead. We can also connect with our inner strength and resilience, recognizing that just as the sun will inevitably return, so too will the light within us.

Resting in togetherness...

While it's the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice also holds a promise of future growth. It reminds us that even in the darkest of times, there is always the potential for renewal and that the light, just like the spring, will eventually return. This knowledge can offer us comfort and hope during challenging times.

So, as we enter the winter solstice, let us embrace the darkness. Let us use this time for healing, reflection, and self-care. And let us remember that just as the days begin to lengthen again, so too will the light within us continue to grow stronger and brighter until the spring equinox.
